Professional Organizing

From chaos to clarity. Everything in its place.

I organize homes across Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, and the San Fernando Valley. We work out where everything goes, then set the room up to stay that way.

What I can take off your hands

Every job starts with a free walkthrough, and you get a written estimate before anything moves.

Everyday rooms

The kitchen, the pantry, your closet, the laundry. We set the room up around how your household actually moves through it, then label it so it holds.

Usually one or two sessions.

Storage spaces

Garages, attics, sheds, the spare room that became storage. Nothing gets decided until we can see all of it, so these start with getting everything out.

Usually a day or two.

Moving & downsizing

There's a date on the calendar, so we work backward from it. Packing that thinks about the unpacking, or a house unpacked into a system instead of into piles.

Booked around your move date.

Whole-home reset

The whole house, a room at a time, over a few weeks. Most people don't want their entire home in motion at once, so we don't do it that way.

Scoped after the walkthrough.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises

  1. 01

    Consult

A free walkthrough, in person or over video. We look at the space, talk about what isn't working, and I give you a straight estimate of scope and cost.

  2. 02

    Plan

I come back with a plan: zones, what to keep, what storage is worth buying, and what you already own that will do the job. You approve it before anything moves.

  3. 03

    Transform

The working sessions. We sort, edit and rehome together. You make the keep-or-go calls, I keep things moving, and I handle the donation run at the end.

  4. 04

    Maintain

Labels, a short written rundown of where things live, and a check-in a few weeks later. A system nobody can keep up with isn't organized.

Leanna Mortenson, professional organizer

About

Hi, I'm Leanna, and I'm the one who will actually be in your home.

I've been organizing spaces for as long as I can remember. Every home I've lived in has gone through it: closets, kitchens, garages, junk drawers, the works. It isn't a phase or a New Year's resolution. It's just how I'm wired.

I can walk into a room and see almost right away where everything belongs. The shelf holding the wrong things. The drawer that could actually make sense. The corner collecting clutter because nothing there was ever given a home. It's hard to explain to people who don't see rooms that way, but once a space is set up the way it should be, you feel the difference immediately.

Taking a chaotic room and turning it into one that works is the part I love. Every object gets a place, the surfaces clear, and the whole room feels calmer the second you walk back into it. Perfection isn't the goal, and neither is a magazine spread. I want order that fits how you live, so your home works for you instead of against you.

Whether it's one overflowing closet or a whole house that needs a fresh start, I start by looking at how you use the space, then build a system that feels natural rather than forced.

Kelley B Ventura Whole-home reset

“My life requires organization. But I can’t do it on my own. I need professional help. I think everybody does. Leanna Mortenson is the top person for helping people organize. She just just organize it herself although she can do that if you want she can also help you find systems that works specifically for you. I recommend her to all of my friends and family and more. ”

Questions

The things people ask first

What does a professional organizer cost?

The consultation is free. After the walkthrough you get a written estimate for the whole job, so you're not watching a clock. Most single rooms, a pantry or a closet, are quoted as a flat project rather than by the hour, and a whole-home reset is scoped room by room. Product is separate, and I'll always tell you when what you already own will do.

What happens during the first visit?

We walk the space together and I ask a lot of questions about how you use it: who reaches for what, where things pile up, what you've already tried. Nothing gets moved and nothing gets thrown away. It takes about an hour, it's free, and you leave knowing what the job involves and what it costs.

Do I need to buy bins before you come?

No, please don't. Buying storage before the sorting is the most common and most expensive mistake people make. We measure and choose product after we know what's staying, and a good share of the time what you already own works. If anything needs buying, I'll send a specific list with sizes.

How long does a pantry, a closet, or a whole home take?

A pantry or a reach-in closet is usually a single session. A primary closet or a garage bay is one to two. A whole-home reset runs room by room over a few weeks, at whatever pace fits your family. Most people don't want their whole house in motion at once.

Do you serve my area?

I work throughout Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, and the San Fernando Valley, including Ventura, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Ojai, Oxnard, Simi Valley, Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria, Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, Encino and Calabasas. If you're just outside that, ask anyway.

What is the difference between organizing and cleaning?

A cleaner makes a room clean. An organizer decides where things live and builds a system you can keep up with. I don't clean, and I'm not there to judge how the space looks when I arrive. Whatever state it is in is the useful place to start from.

Do I have to throw things away?

Never anything you want to keep. Every keep-or-go call is yours. My job is to make the decision easy by laying out everything you have in one place. I handle the donation run and send you the receipt.

Do I need to be there the whole time?

For the sorting, yes. Those decisions are yours, and they go much faster with you in the room. For the setup and labeling afterward, not at all. Plenty of clients do the first half with me and come home to the second.

Get started

Book a free consultation

An hour, at no charge. I won't move anything or ask you to decide anything on the spot.

What the hour looks like

  1. We walk the space together and I ask what you have already tried.

  2. I measure, photograph anything I need to plan around, and talk through options.

  3. You get a written estimate with hours and any products it would need.
